I really don’t like it when characters in a webcomic will say, “Oh, look at that crazy awesome thing happening over there!” — but it’s offstage. The artist doesn’t even try to draw it. They just keep the characters there with stunned or joyous or terrified expressions. There are merits to leaving stuff up to the imagination, but if someone’s reading your comic to see the artwork, that changes things. It’s lazy not to try.

So, with that in mind, The Super Duper Project continues with “actual” student projects. This is what Mouse Kid, Ant Kid, and Octopus Kid came up with, and it was really fun. I’m going to do 3 more to get D.K. in next Wednesday, but I won’t pretend I’m not tempted to do one for all 15 of the animal kids.

I hope you like the color, too. Like I said, it’s too much of a hurdle for me to add to every single comic — but I like what’s being said here by the fact that the comic’s “real world” is still black and white. There’s color in the world when people make things, and that’s exactly what MK, AK, and OK did.
