The background in panels 1 and 4 is just unwet water-soluble crayon, what I use for all the colors (only not wet — wetted — wettened? saturated). I can’t decide if I like like it or not, but every time I try to watercolor a background it’s glommy and streaky and kinda overwhelms the non-background stuff. Is the textured crayon a solution, or a shortcut? Life’s mysteries.

I just wish I could make it look like whatever goop is dripping down and bubblemorphing in this video.
